Happy Anniversary Baby!

Last week was our wedding anniversary.  It wasn’t a massively major milestone – our 3rd – but it was good to be able to go out and enjoy a night out (thanks to Charlotte for babysitting).

Depending on what version you follow (and according to the trusty wikipedia article), the 3rd wedding anniversary should be celebrated by leather gifts (traditional, both in the UK and US) or crystal glass (modern).  For the past few years, we’ve been following the traditional gifts so leather it was.  I failed in my wifely duties and left gift shopping until 4:30pm on the day before, and consequently, hubby had no gift on our actual anniversary.  I even forgot a card.  I’m a terrible wife.  However, I had good intentions and those suede leather shoes I wanted to buy him (but they didn’t have his size in the ones I was going to buy) are now going to be of his choosing, which let’s be honest, is probably for the best.  I scored red leather gloves and a red belt – woot!

Our night out was great – we went to eat at Brodburger – which in of itself isn’t that romantic with the rest of Canberra on a Wednesday evening – but it was super yum as it always is!  Quick beer and burger and then we went to the ANU to see my best mate perform in his very first musical performance in an ammeter production of the Witches of Eastwick.

Now I confess, if it weren’t for my mate, then I’m not sure I’d have even known about this or if I did I’m not sure I would’ve been keen to go.  I’m not a musical theatre person.  I’m barely even one to watch musicals on TV.  But it was great!  I was even laughing out loud and have been raving about it to anyone that’ll listen.  Now of course, I’m going to have to watch the movie version to see how it compares, which conveniently is on tele this weekend.

Oh and my mate was playing the role Fidel the manservant to Darryl (aptly described as “physical extreme of exotic looks“).  He was excellent.  Very believable and such a perfect character for him to play.

Anyway, it was a great night out and what a great way to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary.

LY TJ.
